This early medieval gambeson is made in mid-brown coloured leather. It is knee length, with full length sleeves, and is lined in white linen. The gamby fastens at the front by means of hand sewn point holes The port piece is made in layers of heavier leather, and is external, to protect the points from the mail that was to be worn over the garment. The back is split and reinforced with a leather patch at the top. The edge binding is leather and is hand sewn. |
