A late medieval arming doublet. The outer is of a heavy weight grey linen, re-enforced with black leather. It is lightly padded with woollen fabric, and the lining is of off white linen. The sleeves fasten at the wrist, with a number of point holes for ties, to allow the cuff to fit tightly. The puffs at the tops of the sleeves are stuffed with wool fleece, into a 'dropped' shape, to support the armour to be worn over it. The arming doublet has a huge number of point holes (around 70), to support the armour, all hand sewn, re-enforced with internal metal rings. The front fastens with hand made hooks and eyes. |
