Just visible in the pictures (under the surcoat and mailshirt) is one of six stuffed gambesons / achetons I made for English Heritage. The gambesons were made in a heavy linen, lined with linen, and stuffed with 'wool waste'. All of the gambies had long sleeves and were just past knee length. I also made a number of surcoats and other Norman clothing to go with the gambesons. This clothing and padding was used at Battle Abbey for the filming of "Warhorse" by the History Channel. |
